Black Rock and Beaumaris hold a concentration of mid century modern houses built by architects after the war, and floor to ceiling glazing is one of the defining features. Those original windows are usually single glazed with very slim frames, so a replacement is judged on whether it keeps that sightline as much as on performance.

Some are. Bayside ran a voluntary nomination process in 2019 and 2020, and Amendment C178bays applied heritage controls to nineteen properties across Black Rock and Beaumaris from February 2021.
